Accurate punching processes and bending processes are combined in one component – due to their production-related complexity, punched and bent parts require special handling.

The material used for a punched and bent part can have a significant effect on the later properties of the end product. Although strip material is now pretty much considered standard, stainless steel and copper alloys offer advantages in many respects. Thermosetting copper alloys and heat-resistant steel represent the pinnacle. In this area, too, Steel offers individual solutions – no matter whether they are for springs, contact plugs or many other punched and bent parts. Peripheral working steps, such as creating the female thread or assembling subcomponents, are undertaken in-house at our company and in an integrated processing step.

For deep-drawing, there are two versions based on tensile-compressive forming. Either a piece of cut steel is made into a hollow part that is open at the side – or a produced hollow part is made into one with a low cross-section without deliberately changing the sheet thickness.

Ultimately, deep-drawing is one of our most significant sheet-forming process. Rigid tools are typically used which are employed using presses. The power required for forming is guided to the surface of the deep-drawn part using a punch. Radial tensile stress and the tangential compression stress caused by this lead to the working piece being formed while preventing sheet thickening.
